licensed midwife, doula monatrice

After witnessing a home birth in 2007, I knew that I wanted to support women and their families during pregnancy and birth. I completed my DONA training and began my doula career shortly after. I've been a doula since March 2008, and my love for serving women and families has continued to grow. I graduated from Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery with high honors in 2016 and am now a Certified Professional Midwife licensed to practice midwifery in California. Whether as a doula or a midwife, in home or in the hospital setting, it is such a privilege to care for families during this transformative time. I truly enjoy helping woman have safe and satisfying birth experiences. I hope we can meet soon!

Brittany Harmon, LM, CPM

licensed midwife, doula monatrice

Since childhood, I've had the desire to learn about and care for pregnant women. My journey to realize that dream began with my enrollment at Nizhoni Institute of Midwifery in 2011. The following year, I began supporting families as a birth doula and offering placenta encapsulation services. In 2016 I found myself drawn to serving parents in the first months following birth as a postpartum doula.

I am honored to share my knowledge with the families I serve but, most of all, I believe that a non-judgmental listening ear can be the key to helping a person find the power in themselves. I couldn't be happier to be a resource to the families of San Diego County and would love the chance to meet your family.

postpartum doula

I am a DONA Trained and Certified Postpartum Doula in San Diego. I was born and raised in sunny California. After many fulfilling years as a nanny, Sarah Burns inspired and mentored me as I began my journey to become a Postpartum Doula. I attended the DONA training at Bastyr University September 2014. My specialities include providing healing meals and teas to replenish and nurture after birth. Along with teaching American Sign Language for parents early interaction with baby. My calm and serene nature allows place for the bonding and early connections new parents make with their little ones. My passion is supporting and encouraging confidence in mother and father's parenting abilities. I love to support and nurture the birth of a new family.

rachael oeffner, IBCLC

postpartum doula & board certified lactation consultant

I am a DONA trained Postpartum Doula and a International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).  I've always loved working with families as a nanny, and then as a tutor, and reading specialist. Life with a new little one can be stressful and as I worked with families as a doula I realized many of their concerns centered around breastfeeding and getting some much needed rest.  This prompted me to become a lactation consultant. I love to support families to make the experience of welcoming a new baby as relaxing and fun as possible. My goal is to help you feel confident in your new role as parents and make the transition peaceful and joyful. I hope to meet with you and your family soon.

Teresa McCormack, RN, IBCLC

registered nurse & board certified lactation consultant

I am a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consult. Upon delivery of my firstborn, I found  breastfeeding to be much more difficult than I had imagined it would be. I then found my outpatient lactation consultant, who helped helped me tremendously. I looked back and realized the empowerment I had gained and wanted to leave that same impact on new mothers.

My hopes are to increase the ease of breastfeeding for you and your baby in order to make life as a new parent easier to manage, and to help you meet your specific feeding goals for your child.
